Creative furniture project close to my heart.

Recently finished painting this antique storage piece that has extra special meaning to my friend, her family, and to me. It belonged to my dear friend’s mom and is now safely back home.

I remember hanging out years ago watching our boys play baseball and “Grandma Barbie” was one of the sweetest, most loving fans in the stands. She always had a huge smile and positive attitude and I feel so blessed we became friends. Sadly, she lost her long battle to cancer a few years ago.

My friend recently moved and wanted a timeless custom finish to coordinate with the design and colors in her new home.

It was fun working with Annie Sloan’s light Chicago Grey paint and adding a charcoal distressed finish. Painting original gold hardware with dark silver worked nicely to update without buying new!

Thankful for this opportunity and know Barbie’s spirit was with me while I painted. Her love will be with us forever and she will always be missed. Happy her piece will be treasured by her daughter and family for years to come.
