A few months ago, a local designer told me she was on the hunt for an antique piece of furniture for a client’s dining room. Finally, after much looking, she found this old piece for sale, worn and sitting on a back porch, no longer needed or appreciated.
We met with her client and brainstormed custom colors and finishes to compliment the new design scheme in her beautiful home in Sewickley. It was bold but green was the top choice and they trusted me to create her vision and custom finish.
After much love, repairs, and mixing several colors, it was so much fun to start covering chunky layers of orange, white, and gold paints from over the years. I created a custom lighter inside color so that keepsakes could be easily displayed and coordinate with the new wall color. I knew Annie Sloan chalk paint would be perfect for this project and work well for me to distress carefully for an aged finish. Amsterdam Green and French Linen were used to create custom shades of green and gray.
Thank you Jessica for your trust in me and for having such a creative vision for this piece in a new space. It now holds treasures from our client’s mom, who is no longer here, and will be passed down to someone special in her family to be enjoyed for years to come. If only this furniture piece could talk!
